OUTRE´

A  FASHION MAGAZINE INSPIRED BY BOLD COLORS, STREET STYLE,

 AND THE BEAUTY OF NECESSITY

ABOUT

Outre fashion magazine is passion project and a concept for a further look into personal style on a grad school budget. The concept is completely editorial with a dose of gritty street style. It was fun to see how we far to could push looks and recreate outfits with our models existing clothes.

THE INSPIRATION

OUTRÉ  is my ode to fashion. When I was in undergrad I had dreams of becoming a fashion editor for a magazine like Vogue or Essence. Fashion is the highest form of personal expression and being able to create this magazine was both fun and a way to use my skills as a designer to think about ways to unite fashion and UX design.

In creating Outré my partner and I wanted to explore fall trends and showcase individuality through the use of bold colors. We interviewed and shopped each models closet and hand-picked the outfits that best fit the fall theme of the shoot. What I enjoyed most about creating Outré was being to express my creativity through the lens of fashion.

THE MOODBOARD

FASHION AND UX

With a background in fashion design, I have seen many parallels between Experience Design and Fashion Design. My love for design started in fashion and has evolved to designing products and experiences. My foundation in fashion provided me an interesting approach to problem-solving.

Outre´ combines my love for visual aesthetics and sensitivity to detail with a love of craftsmanship to envision what a magazine could be. Each model in our shoot was styled to look practical yet unique and have some edge. My partner and I developed style guides for each model as practical takeaways they could use after the shoot to ensure their unique style always shined through.

STYLE GUIDES

Utilizing a neutral color palette of earth tones allowed the colors to be mixed and matched in a variety of different ways. Each color also acted as it's own focal point serving as a pop of unexpected color for each model.
